Laddu Gopal Chatti: Traditions and rituals of the sixth day after Janmashtami

Laddu Gopal Chatti is a Hindu tradition observed six days after Janmashtami, celebrating the infant form of Lord Krishna. Following the custom of celebrating a newborn child's sixth day, devotees treat the deity as a member of the family.

During the ritual, the idol of Laddu Gopal is bathed, dressed in new clothes, and decorated with jewelry and flowers. Devotees often place the deity in a decorated cradle. Traditional offerings, or bhog, include items such as makhan-mishri (butter and sugar candy), kheer, curd, fruits, sweets, and panchmrit. In some regions, women sing traditional Sohvar songs to mark the occasion.

The celebration is believed to bring peace, prosperity, and happiness to the household. It serves as a period of devotion where families gather to seek blessings for health and longevity.
