Ladispoli: Man dies after sudden medical emergency in sea

A 50-year-old man from Rieti died after suffering a sudden medical emergency while swimming in the waters of Marina di San Nicola, located in the municipality of Ladispoli.

The incident occurred around 9:00 AM while the man was in the sea with two friends. A lifeguard from the Stella Marina establishment noticed the man floating face up and immediately dove in to assist. With the help of two bystanders, the lifeguard pulled the man to shore, where he still possessed a minimal heartbeat.

Emergency responders, including an ambulance and an air rescue helicopter, arrived on the scene. Despite over thirty minutes of intensive resuscitation efforts and the use of a defibrillator, medical personnel were unable to revive him.

Local authorities, including the Carabinieri and the Coast Guard, attended the scene. The Prosecutor's Office of Civitavecchia determined the death was due to natural causes and has waived the requirement for an autopsy, allowing the body to be released to the victim's family.
