Lady Catalina to debut at Caulfield in Group 3 Quezette Stakes

Lady Catalina, an $1.8 million yearling purchase by Written Tycoon, is set to make her Melbourne debut this Saturday in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield. The filly is the inaugural foal of Away Game, a former sprinter who won the 2020 Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Following a maiden win in Newcastle and a stint in Brisbane during the winter carnival, Lady Catalina has returned to Ciaron Maher’s training facilities. After a trial at Warwick Farm, she was recently transferred to Maher’s Ballarat stable to prepare for her upcoming run.

Jack Turnbull, National Assistant Trainer for Ciaron Maher Racing, noted that the filly underwent a workout at Ballarat on Tuesday and appears to be in good form. The racing team aims to secure a Black Type victory for the filly, with potential future targets including the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington during Melbourne Cup week if her performance warrants it.
