Ladysmith begins $960,000 Forrest Field turf replacement
The town of Ladysmith is undergoing a $960,000 project to replace the artificial turf at Forrest Field. The original surface, which was installed in 2012, has reached the end of its expected service life.
The new multi-sport turf utilizes modern technology to provide improved performance and footing for the various user groups that utilize the field daily, ranging from youth soccer to adult athletes. To manage costs, contractors are vacuuming up and reusing the existing rubber chip infill.
The field is expected to be closed for approximately four weeks, with a projected reopening date of September 25. While the main field is undergoing work, the nearby practice warm-up pitch will remain available to users.
