Ladysmith councillor Duck Paterson to deliver ambulance to Ukraine

Duck Paterson, a 75-year-old city councillor from Ladysmith, is traveling to Ukraine to deliver an ambulance and essential medical supplies. The mission involves driving nearly 2,000 kilometers from Germany through the Czech Republic and Poland to reach Kyiv.

The ambulance will be loaded with generators, medical equipment, and other supplies intended for hospitals and civilians affected by the war. Upon arrival in Kyiv, the supplies will be distributed, and the vehicle itself will be handed over to the Ukrainian armed forces.

Paterson is traveling as part of a volunteer effort where participants cover their own expenses, including fuel, food, and accommodation, as well as contributions toward the cost of the ambulances. To minimize risk, volunteers will travel in small groups rather than a single large convoy.
