Ladysmith Days festival returns with free family events in BC
The Ladysmith Days community festival is back for a two‑day, free weekend of family activities on Saturday Aug 1 and Sunday Aug 2, 2026, coinciding with the BC Day long weekend. Hundreds of volunteers have spent months preparing the event, which features the Bullhead Derby, a pancake breakfast, market and expo, nail‑driving, zucchini races, the traditional greasy‑pole contest, professional wrestling, a soapbox derby and a skateboard demonstration.
Mary Furneaux serves as vice‑president and vendor coordinator of the Ladysmith Celebration Society, and she and her family have volunteered for more than a decade. Her daughter, now 20, helped add laser‑tag to the program and continues to support the festival’s community‑focused mission.
