Ladysmith Oktoberfest returns for fourth year on Sept. 19

The Ladysmith Oktoberfest is returning for its fourth annual celebration on September 19 at the High Street Ball Field. The event, which runs from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., will feature 12 breweries from Vancouver Island, various food vendors, and five local musical acts.

Organized by the Ladysmith Downtown Business Association (LDBA), the festival serves as a fundraiser for the organization. Proceeds support local initiatives such as the Ladysmith Waterfront Gallery and the Ladysmith Festival of Lights. Brianne Mactier, president of the LDBA, noted that the event has become a popular community fixture since its inception four years ago.

Activities include a stein-holding contest, and attendees are encouraged to wear traditional German attire like lederhosen and dirndls. Admission typically includes a glass mug and one beer ticket, with VIP options also available.
