Laerte Pappalardo says he and Selvaggia Lucarelli were characteristically incompatible

Laerte Pappalardo and journalist Selvaggia Lucarelli were married from 2004 to 2007 and had a son, Leon, born in 2005. After their separation, the couple experienced periods of "punitive silence" in which they would not speak to each other for up to a week following arguments. In a recent interview on the "Radici" podcast hosted by Ughetta Di Carlo, Pappalardo described the relationship as "characteristically incompatible" and said the silences were difficult but eventually gave way to a calmer, amicable interaction.

Both former spouses now maintain a friendly relationship and have moved on to new partners—Lucarelli is engaged to Lorenzo Biagiarelli. They share regular contact and describe their current rapport as good, emphasizing that their friendship is not solely for the sake of their son.

Pappalardo reflected that youth and intense emotions contributed to the marriage’s challenges, but over time the couple found balance and now support each other as part of an extended family.
