Laeticia Hallyday clashes with Serge Varsano over Johnny Hallyday biopic

Laeticia Hallyday, the widow of French rock legend Johnny Hallyday, is in a dispute with her boyfriend Serge Varsano, a billionaire, over the upcoming Johnny Hallyday biopic directed by Cédric Jiménez. Varsano attempted to intervene in casting decisions, offering advice and contacts, which Laeticia rejected, saying she was not consulted about the choice of Laura Smet for the role of Huguette Clerc or Jean‑Baptiste Guégan as Johnny’s vocal double.

The disagreement emerged while the couple were vacationing in Saint‑Tropez and were reportedly planning to relocate to Miami. Laeticia insists on handling the film negotiations herself to protect her late husband’s legacy. The cast now includes Benjamin Voisin as Johnny, replacing Raphaël Quenard. The tension has been described as the first serious rift between them.
