Lafayette, Louisiana adjusts garbage collection schedule for 7,000 residents

Acadiana Waste Services and the Lafayette Consolidated Government announced that, beginning the week of Monday August 3, residential garbage‑collection days will be changed for roughly 7,000 customers in both unincorporated Lafayette Parish and the City of Lafayette.

The adjustment follows a near‑doubling of recycling participation since 2023, which has unbalanced collection routes. The new day will cover garbage, yard waste, recycling and bulky‑item pickup. Residents can verify their new collection day online at lafayettela.gov/wasteupdate.
