Lafayette officials approve funding for Northgate Mall redevelopment

The Lafayette City Council, acting as the Northway Economic Development District board, has agreed in principle to provide up to $1.25 million for the redevelopment of the former Northgate Mall, now renamed ‘The Hub’. If final approval is granted, the funds will reimburse the owner for completed work.

This investment is part of a broader redevelopment effort in north Lafayette involving over $100 million in public and private funding. Other major projects include a new library and a new Paul Breaux K-8 campus. Construction has already begun on the school, which is expected to open in January 2028 with an estimated cost of $62 million.

Jacoby Landry, who purchased the 20.8-acre mall in June 2025 for $2.8 million, plans a total investment of approximately $50.9 million across eight phases. Recent reports indicate the property is seeing increased activity, with monthly rent rising from $15,000 to $60,000 and the tenant count increasing from 14 to 36.
