Lage Sofienlund resigns as Team Konnerud coach

Lage Sofienlund has stepped down as coach for Team Konnerud to take on an administrative role within the club. The decision follows a period of conflict involving elite cross-country skier Kristine Stavås Skistad, who recently left the club to join Mjøndalen IF Ski.

Earlier this year, Skistad filed a report against Sofienlund alleging abuse of power. While the case was dismissed, the Konnerud IL board issued a written reaction following a review. Sofienlund is currently on medical leave, with the club stating that the recent situation has significantly impacted his health.

Marit Bjørgen, a former skiing champion and current national team coach, has expressed support for Skistad. Bjørgen noted that she is monitoring Skistad’s sporting progress and has offered private assistance if necessary as the athlete prepares for the World Championships in Falun.
