Lagoa do Carro hosts 17th Carpet and Handicraft Fair

The 17th edition of the Carpet and Handicraft Fair has commenced in Lagoa do Carro, Pernambuco. Promoted by the Association of Carpet Weavers of Lagoa do Carro, the event features approximately 130 stalls showcasing works from artisans in Pernambuco and other Northeastern Brazilian states.

In addition to tapestry, the fair includes ceramics, embroidery, lace, and sculptures. The programming consists of workshops, lectures, book launches, and cultural performances. Artisans can also use the event to issue or renew their professional identification cards through the Brazilian Handicraft Program.

This year, the event honors Maria José, known as Mestra Lia, a master weaver with over 50 years of experience in the craft.
