Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas to undergo mangrove and restinga restoration

An environmental restoration initiative is set to take place at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas on September 14. Organized by photographer and environmentalist Mario Barila, the project is coordinated by Projeto Água Vida in partnership with the Municipal Secretariat of the Environment.

The action focuses on a 50-meter stretch near Praça Tom Jobim, aiming to plant restinga and mangrove vegetation in one of the last unrecovered areas surrounding the lagoon. The activity will be led by biodiversity researcher Carolina T. Moscatelli, with participation from biologist and ecologist Mario Moscatelli, a key figure in the region's ecological restoration since the late 1980s.
