Lagos Airport Police to Arraign 13 Suspects for Theft of Construction Materials
The Airport Police Command in Lagos announced that 13 suspects will be arraigned for allegedly stealing high‑value construction materials, including copper cables and iron components, from the rehabilitation sites at Murtala Muhammed International Airport. The arrests were carried out on July 30 by the Joint Monitoring Task Force (JMTF) following credible intelligence, and the suspects were handed over to the International Airport Police Division for investigation and prosecution.
The detainees, identified by name, remain in custody and face court proceedings. Commissioner of Police, Airport Command CP Ogunbode Olufunke praised the JMTF’s vigilance and warned that theft of building materials threatens critical infrastructure and could delay the airport’s upgrade works. ASP Mohammed Adeola, the command’s public‑relations officer, reiterated the commitment to securing aviation facilities and urged the public to report any suspicious activity.
