Lagos and Praia da Luz to host traditional Festa do Banho 29

The traditional Festa do Banho 29 is returning to Lagos and Praia da Luz on August 29. This cultural event features a midnight sea bath, a tradition based on the belief that a bath on this night is equivalent to 29 baths and wards off demons.

In Lagos, festivities include historical reenactments at Avenida dos Descobrimentos and Praia da Batata, musical performances, capoeira, and traditional swimwear contests. The celebration in Praia da Luz will feature multiple stages with various musical acts and DJs. The event in Lagos is organized by the Lagos City Council, while the Praia da Luz celebrations are led by the Clube Recreativo, Cultural e Desportivo Luzense.
