Lagos caretaker in preventive detention for suspected double homicide
A 45-year-old foreign man has been placed in preventive detention following the suspected double homicide of a couple in Lagos, Portugal. The victims, a 79-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman, were foreign entrepreneurs in the health sector who had resided in Portugal for several years.
According to the Polícia Judiciária (PJ), the crimes were committed with extreme violence. The victims were reportedly struck with a blunt object, causing fatal injuries. The suspect, who worked for the couple as a caretaker, is accused of dragging the bodies into a water cistern on the property and using chemicals in an attempt to decompose them and hide the crime.
During his arrest by the GNR in the vicinity of the property, the suspect was found in possession of a significant amount of cash and valuables believed to belong to the victims. The motive for the killings remains unknown, and authorities are investigating whether other individuals were involved. The suspect had no prior criminal record, according to police reports.
