Lagos container truck collides with broken-down LAWMA van
A 20-foot containerized truck collided with a stationary Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) truck at Apakun, inward Iyana-Isolo, in Lagos State. The incident occurred overnight, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
LASTMA deployed a rescue team to the scene and activated a crane and a high-capacity tow truck to clear the vehicles and restore traffic flow. While LASTMA confirmed that a casualty was taken to the hospital, the specific identity and condition of the victim have not been independently verified.
The accident highlights ongoing safety concerns regarding heavy-duty vehicles and container trucks on Lagos roads. Authorities have previously advised operators to ensure broken-down vehicles are properly marked and removed quickly to prevent similar collisions.
