Lagos Court Grants ₦10m Bail to Two Men Charged with ₦63.7m Shipping Container Fraud

Danladi Lawal and Lawan Salihu Auwal were arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court on charges of conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence and stealing. Prosecutors allege the pair defrauded Hussein Yunisa Dauda of ₦63.7 million by claiming they had loaded 20‑foot and 40‑foot shipping containers for sale, which in reality did not exist.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty. Chief Magistrate A. A. Adesanya granted each defendant bail of ₦10 million, with two sureties of the same amount, requiring proof of tax payments, livelihood and utility bills. The case was adjourned for mention on 24 July 2026.
