Lagos court sentences former banker to 39 years for fraud

A Lagos court has sentenced former banker Christopher Jackson Edeh to 39 years in prison following a N2.7 billion fraud case. The prosecution, led by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), successfully argued that Edeh engaged in fraudulent false accounting and unauthorized computer system access.

Edeh was found guilty on nine counts. The fraud involved altering bank account details for various entities, including the Kano State Government Power Intervention Fund, NNPC Trading Limited, the Lagos State Government Blue Line, and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.

Justice O. O. Abike-Fadipe of the Special Offences Court in Ikeja ordered that the sentences for the various counts run concurrently.
