Lagos creative hubs emerge to support independent brands and artists

New creative and retail models are emerging in Lagos to support the city’s growing community of independent brands and artists.

Manifest, a spatial concepts platform founded by Osayomon Obaseki-Ojogwu, is exploring temporary physical spaces for brands that traditionally operate online. The platform recently hosted ‘Rooted,’ a retail and culture experience held within a BYD showroom in Victoria Island. The event featured 14 Nigerian brands, demonstrating how existing commercial spaces can be repurposed for curated retail experiences without displacing their original functions.

Simultaneously, Spotlight has opened in Victoria Island as a multidisciplinary hub combining art, hospitality, music, and wellness. Founded by Rizzulenation and Us & Friends, the space operates as both a gallery and a private members’ club. Led by entrepreneur Adu Olubi (known as Rizzule), Spotlight aims to provide a centralized environment for artists, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to network and collaborate through exhibitions, workshops, and dedicated social zones.
