Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat Secures APC Endorsements for 2027 Governorship

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State have overwhelmingly backed Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat as the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election. In Surulere Constituency 1, over a thousand accredited party members voted at venues across six wards, affirming Hamzat’s candidacy in a process described as peaceful and fair.

Separately, the Badagry Division of the APC formally endorsed Hamzat after APC chieftain Samuel Ajose withdrew from the race and pledged support for Hamzat’s campaign. The endorsement was attended by party leaders, traditional rulers and supporters, with the party’s Governance Advisory Council secretary highlighting Hamzat as the consensus choice. Earlier, former Lagos governorship hopeful Abdul‑Azeez Adediran (Jandor) also stepped down in favour of Hamzat following endorsement by party leader Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
