Lagos Governor calls for ethical business practices at ICSAN anniversary

At the 60th anniversary and 50th annual conference of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) in Lagos, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and various economic experts advocated for the integration of ethical leadership, accountability, and sustainable practices within Nigerian businesses.

The conference, themed ‘Balancing Profit and Purpose: Advancing Sustainable Business Practices in Emerging Economies,’ focused on how organizations can maintain financial performance while fulfilling responsibilities to stakeholders, communities, and the environment. Speakers noted that such practices are essential to supporting Nigeria’s goal of achieving a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2030.

Former Nigerian Exchange Group chief executive Oscar Onyema emphasized that aligning commercial success with long-term stakeholder interests can bolster public confidence and profitability. Additionally, ICSAN President Uto Ukpanah announced that a Senate bill to rename the institute the Chartered Governance Institute of Nigeria has passed its second reading.
