Lagos State targets $1 trillion GDP by 2052
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed the administration's commitment to the Lagos State Development Plan 2052. The long-term blueprint includes 447 initiatives across 21 strategic sectors, aiming to transform the state into a globally competitive economic and financial hub with a GDP approaching one trillion dollars by 2052.
The plan focuses on four primary pillars: a thriving economy, modern infrastructure, effective governance, and a human-centered city. Speaking at the Lagos Executive Business Breakfast Meeting, Sanwo-Olu emphasized the need for sustained investment in technology, human capital, and business-friendly policies to drive growth.
In related social and educational developments, the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) has renovated 50 schools across the state since 2022, including 26 facilities for special needs. Additionally, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat is set to inaugurate the Centre for Digital Humanities (CEDHUL) at the University of Lagos, establishing a research hub for digital scholarship in Sub-Saharan Africa.
