Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu Receives Leadership Award at Babcock University Convocation

Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu was presented with the Leadership and Service Award by Babcock University during its 24th Undergraduate Convocation in Ilishan‑Remo, Ogun State. Addressing the graduating Nova Class of 2026, he urged the students to embrace faith, resilience and innovation, stressing that “the world will not give you what you believe you deserve; it will only give you what you demand of it.”

Sanwo‑Olu highlighted Lagos State’s achievements since 2019, including a budget increase from under ₦900 billion to ₦4.44 trillion, the establishment of two new state universities, the construction of the largest children’s hospital in sub‑Saharan Africa, digital learning reforms, and recognition by the Dealroom Global Tech Ecosystem Index as the world’s fastest‑growing tech ecosystem. He also reflected on the COVID‑19 pandemic and the #EndSARS protests as major tests of his administration, emphasizing the need for calm, evidence‑based decision‑making and wise counsel.

The ceremony also marked the graduation of 3,521 students, with 306 earning First Class honours, and honoured the university’s top student, Miss Oluwapelumi Amosu, for academic excellence and community service.
