Lagos landlord reduces tenant rent by 50% following birth of twins
A landlord in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, has reportedly reduced the rent of his tenant, Mr. Adeyemi Johnson, by 50 per cent following the birth of the tenant’s twins via Caesarean section.
The landlord issued a letter titled “Temporary Reduction of Rent,” acknowledging that the birth would likely result in additional medical and family expenses. The 50 per cent reduction is scheduled to last for six months, beginning in October 2026, after which the rent will return to its original amount unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
The gesture gained attention on social media after a barrister shared the story, noting the unexpected nature of the act given the high cost of rent in Lagos.
