Lagos mechanic killed after being lured by fake car repair job

The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the murder of an automotive mechanic known as Samson. The victim, who operated a workshop near Warike Estate, was allegedly lured to the Abijo area of Ibeju-Lekki on Tuesday, September 15, under the pretext of repairing a faulty Mercedes-Benz.

Upon arriving at the location, Samson was reportedly taken into a bush and hacked to death. While police are working to track the victim’s mobile phone and establish the circumstances of the killing, local reports suggest the incident may be linked to cult violence.

An anti-cultism advocacy platform indicated the killing might be retaliation for the death of an Eiye member, Ola Sheu, who was killed on September 9 near the Lakowe area. The platform suggested the victim's identity may have been revealed through social media, leading to the targeted attack.
