Lagos Police and Health Commission Plan Security Boost for Hospitals
The Lagos State Police Command and the Lagos State Health Service Commission met to discuss strengthening security at hospitals and other health facilities across Lagos State. Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai hosted a delegation led by Health Service Commission Chairman Oguntimehin Olukayode, along with senior officials, at the command headquarters in Ikeja. The agencies said the cooperation aims to protect medical personnel, patients and public‑health infrastructure, and to prevent security lapses from disrupting service delivery in the densely populated city. Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi noted that while no specific incidents were cited, the partnership reflects a broader inter‑agency responsibility to improve public safety and health outcomes.
The meeting underscored the need for coordinated security arrangements at public hospitals, acknowledging the pressure on Lagos’s health system and the potential wider impact of any security breakdowns on residents.
