Lagos Police redeploy DPO and officers over misconduct

Lagos State Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu has ordered the immediate redeployment of CSP Francis Ani, the Divisional Police Officer of the Onipanu Division, along with several other officers. The decision follows an investigation into the harassment and illegal detention of Tunde Abass and Kabir Mohammed.

The incident occurred on March 19, 2021, after Abass reportedly intervened during the forceful arrest of Mohammed. Following a review of reports regarding the violation of human rights, the Commissioner condemned the unprofessional conduct and excessive use of power. The involved officers have been ordered to face an orderly room trial, while the DPO has been reassigned to the State Command Headquarters in Ikeja.
