Lagos police urge community cooperation to fight crime

Police officials in Lagos are calling for increased community cooperation to combat rising crime rates, specifically targeting cultism, drug abuse, and cybercrime.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani emphasized that effective policing requires a partnership between security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, and youths. During a security meeting in Mushin, Tijani urged residents to share intelligence regarding suspicious activities and warned against providing shelter to criminals.

Additionally, Assistant Inspector-General of Police Simeon Akpanudom warned youths against engaging in cultism and criminal activities, noting that such involvement destroys futures and harms the nation. Akpanudom stated that the Nigeria Police Force has intensified campaigns against various forms of criminality and urged parents to guide their children to prevent them from falling into crime.
