Lagos records highest petrol distribution in Nigeria for June

Data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) shows that Lagos State recorded the highest volume of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) distribution in June 2025. As Nigeria’s commercial hub, Lagos’s high consumption is attributed to its large population, industrial activity, and extensive transportation networks.

In contrast, Jigawa State recorded the lowest petrol distribution in the same period. Analysts suggest this is due to the state’s smaller population, lower levels of industrialization, and a largely agrarian economy that relies more on non-motorized transport.
