Lagos residents protest six-month refuse heap on Idimu-Ejigbo Road

Residents and business owners along the Idimu-Ejigbo Road in Lagos State are reporting a massive refuse heap that has remained on the road median for approximately six months. The waste, stretching about 150 metres near the Dorcas and Silva Estate, has caused significant environmental hazards and offensive odours, particularly during hot weather.

Local stakeholders expressed frustration that the waste remains unattended despite the presence of waste management operators in the area. Although a previous report prompted an earlier evacuation, the refuse has since accumulated again, spilling onto portions of the road. Residents and shop owners noted that the situation is becoming unbearable for motorists and pedestrians using the major thoroughfare.
