Lagos: Four killed in container truck collision on Berger Bridge

Four men were killed and several others injured after a container-laden truck overturned onto a passenger bus on the Berger Bridge along the Ibeju-Lekki Expressway in Lagos State.

According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the accident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday when an articulated truck carrying a 20-foot container collided with a Toyota Hiace bus. Preliminary investigations suggest the truck was traveling uphill at excessive speed when the driver lost control while attempting to avoid a collision, causing the vehicle and its container to fall onto the bus.

LASEMA responders, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and the Nigeria Police Force attended the scene. The injured victims were transported to Epe General Hospital for medical treatment. Authorities utilized a private crane to lift the overturned truck and container to facilitate the recovery of the deceased.

In separate incidents on the same day, emergency teams responded to a truck crash in Agege where a vehicle struck a solar-powered streetlight pole, causing traffic obstructions but resulting in no reported casualties.
