Lagos State and Federal task force clash over coastal highway land

Tensions have escalated between the Lagos State Government and a Federal Government task force regarding land disputes along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway corridor. A group of residents has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene following alleged confrontations in areas including Kuramo, Victoria Island, Mayegun Coastal Road, and Ilasan in Eti-Osa.

According to the group, Lagos State officials and police contingents allegedly attempted to obstruct and intimidate federal task force personnel tasked with protecting federal properties. The group further alleged that on September 7, state officials entered disputed lands and erected real-estate billboards despite the presence of federal security arrangements.
