Lagos State expands healthcare access via mobile clinics and free medical outreach

Lagos State has launched several healthcare initiatives aimed at improving medical access for vulnerable and underserved populations. In the Badagry Division, the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) commissioned the Eko Social Health Alliance (EKOSHA) mobile clinic to serve the Erikiti Oglo community. The clinic will operate every Tuesday from 8 am to 5 pm, providing general consultations via telemedicine, treatment for common and chronic illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes, laboratory investigations, and drug dispensing. This mobile service is intended as a temporary measure until a permanent Primary Healthcare Centre is established in the area.

In a separate outreach program, nearly 400 residents received free medical screenings, medications, and assistance with enrolling in the Lagos State health insurance scheme. Organized by the General Hospital, Somolu, in collaboration with various government agencies and charities, the two-day intervention focused on the early detection of conditions including high cholesterol, prostate cancer, malaria, and mental health issues. The program aimed to remove cost barriers to preventive healthcare and routine medical checks.
