Lagos State Government provides free transport for police officers
The Lagos State Government has launched a three-month complimentary transportation scheme for police officers to recognize their contributions to peace and security. As part of the initiative, 2,000 Cowry Cards were distributed to personnel, providing unlimited access to the state’s integrated public transportation network.
Beneficiaries can utilize the Blue Line and Red Line rail services, electric water boats, and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems. The program was conceived through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation Logistics and coincides with the third anniversary of the Lagos Blue Line Rail.
Assistant Inspector-General of Police Simeon Akpanudom, representing Inspector-General Olatunji Disu, accepted the cards and expressed appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for supporting police welfare. Following the initial three-month free period, the state government has proposed a 50 per cent fare discount for police officers using the integrated transport system.
