Lagos State installs boundary signposts to prevent land disputes
The Lagos State Government has begun installing boundary demarcation signposts across the state to prevent disputes between neighboring communities and bordering states. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, aims to ensure peaceful coexistence and prevent encroachment.
Kikelomo Bolarinwa, the ministry's Permanent Secretary, stated that the government will uphold official boundary specifications provided by the Office of the Surveyor-General. The project is intended to ensure residents in border communities are properly captured for welfare provision, support infrastructure development, and strengthen local economies.
Authorities have warned residents against vandalizing the signposts, noting that anyone found demolishing them will face punishment to maintain social order and prevent the breakdown of law and order.
