Lagos State local governments launch medical outreach programs

Local government authorities in Lagos State, Nigeria, have launched medical outreach programs to improve healthcare access for residents and schoolchildren.

Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital conducted its first ‘School Ready Health Outreach’ targeting approximately 700 children aged five to 15. The initiative, held in collaboration with the Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government and Ojokoro LCDA, provided pediatric assessments, dental and eye screenings, nutrition counseling, and health education. Hospital CEO Dr. Oluyemi Taiwo emphasized that the program aims to promote early detection of health conditions that could impact academic performance and overall wellbeing.

In Ikorodu, the Ikorodu Local Government organized a mega medical outreach in Ita-Elewa and surrounding communities. The program provided free medical consultations, screenings, and medications. Executive Chairman Hon. Prince Adedayo Ladega stated the initiative is part of a broader agenda to improve grassroots healthcare, alongside other local development projects in education, infrastructure, and vocational training.
