Lagos State strengthens law enforcement and announces regulatory crackdown
Lagos State is implementing new measures to improve public order and law enforcement professionalism. During a ceremony for the Lagos State Law Enforcement Training Institute (LETI), Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Attorney General Lawal Pedro, addressed 1,800 officers who completed mandatory in-service training. The officers represent seven agencies, including LASTMA and the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA). The Governor emphasized that effective enforcement requires integrity, accountability, and respect for citizens' rights.
In a separate development, the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit has announced a crackdown on traffic and environmental offenders. Following a one-month public sensitization campaign aimed at educating residents on the traffic sector reform law of 2015 and the environmental reform law of 2017, the Taskforce intends to begin arrests and prosecutions of violators.
