Lagos State withdraws licences of six waste operators

The Lagos State Government has withdrawn the operating licences of six Private Sector Participation (PSP) waste operators due to their failure to meet required service standards. The decision was announced by Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, as part of an effort to ensure efficient and reliable waste management across the state.

The affected operators include K-HS Integrated Services (formerly Gboleybos Nigeria Limited) in Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Deshasat Enterprises in Olorunda, Bailas Nigeria Company in Ojo, Guestimate Environmental Protection Company in Orile Agege, Evabol Ventures in Ajeromi-Ifelodun, and Korad Closet Empire Limited in Ojodu. While K-HS Integrated Services reportedly withdrew voluntarily, the licences for the other five companies were terminated following regulatory assessments of their service capacity.

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) is tasked with monitoring these operators and assessing their technical and financial capabilities. The government stated it will continue to strengthen regulatory oversight and enforce performance standards to ensure operators possess the necessary competence and resources to serve residents.
