Lagos taskforce arrests 46 suspects in anti‑crime clean‑up

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, known as the Taskforce, conducted a clean‑up operation on Friday that began at 9 a.m. across Lagos Island, Victoria Island and the Lekki axis. The raid resulted in the arrest of 46 individuals suspected of crimes such as street fraud, illegal motorcycling, drug dealing and ticket touting.

Police recovered substances believed to be Indian hemp, Colorado and other cannabis, a cutlass and a locally fabricated "dane" gun. Spokesperson Abdulraheem Gbadeyan said normalcy had been restored in the targeted areas. Taskforce Chairman CSP Adetayo Akerele pledged continued enforcement, noting that the suspects will be prosecuted under the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law 2017 and the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018.
