Lagos to Host 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships with 20 Nations Confirmed

The Commonwealth Fencing Federation announced that 20 member nations will compete at the 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships in Lagos, Nigeria, from August 9 to August 14. Host nation Nigeria will be joined by Australia, India, Bangladesh, Botswana, Cyprus, England, Ghana, Guernsey, Jamaica, Kenya, Mauritius, Namibia, Northern Ireland, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, The Gambia, Togo and Wales. India is slated to bring the largest delegation, with 67 fencers across veteran, U‑23, para and senior categories.

CFF President Dufour Marie‑France highlighted the event as a landmark return to Africa after a ten‑year gap; the last African edition was in Cape Town in 2016. The Lagos championships will also feature the inaugural U‑23 individual events alongside the established senior and veteran contests, underscoring the competition’s growing scope within Commonwealth sport.
