Lagos to host inaugural African Neurodiversity Conference

Lagos is set to host the inaugural African Neurodiversity Conference (TANC) on October 20-21, 2026. Organized by the Association of Nigerian Educational Psychologists (ANEP), the event will take place at Children’s International School in Lekki Phase 1.

Under the theme “Shifting Minds, Implementing Actions,” the conference aims to bridge the gap between public awareness and practical intervention for neurodivergent individuals. Organizers noted that while discussions regarding autism, ADHD, and dyslexia are increasing in Nigeria, many families, schools, and workplaces still lack the necessary resources and structures to provide adequate support.

The event will bring together educators, psychologists, therapists, and researchers to discuss practical strategies for inclusion in schools, families, and professional environments. Featured experts include Prof. Julie Washington from the University of California, Dr. Martin Bloomfield of Beyond Inclusion (UK), and Prof. Bolanle Olawuyi from the University of Ilorin.
