Lagos train collision leaves vehicle destroyed; driver survives

A 55-year-old motorist narrowly escaped injury after a moving train collided with his Honda car at the PWD railway crossing in Lagos State. The train was traveling toward Agege at the time of the impact.

The collision resulted in the vehicle being a complete write-off, but no casualties were recorded. Operatives from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and security personnel responded to the scene to rescue the driver and remove the wreckage from the tracks. While the removal of the vehicle allowed the train to resume its journey, the incident caused significant traffic congestion in the PWD area.

LASTMA has handed the damaged vehicle over to security personnel for investigation into the cause of the collision. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, commended the coordinated response of the emergency teams and urged motorists to exercise extreme caution and comply with railway safety regulations when approaching crossings.
