Lagos Water Corporation and Julius Berger discuss infrastructure coordination
The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) and Julius Berger Nigeria Plc have entered discussions to improve coordination between water and road infrastructure projects in Lagos. A high-level LWC delegation, led by Managing Director Mukhtaar Tijani, visited Julius Berger’s Ijora office to discuss technical collaboration and sustainable development.
The partnership aims to prevent conflicts between road construction activities and existing water pipelines. Key areas of focus include road construction, water infrastructure development, and the protection of water pipelines to ensure a sustainable water supply across Lagos Island and surrounding areas.
Both organizations emphasized the necessity of early communication and the sharing of technical information, such as project drawings and schedules, to minimize disruptions. The discussions also addressed the impact of uncoordinated borehole drilling on groundwater resources, noting that improved public water systems could reduce reliance on individual boreholes and better protect the local ecosystem.
