Lagos Widow's Father‑In‑Law Arrested After Property Lockout
A 28‑year‑old widow, Tosin Omolola, in Ikorodu, Lagos State, was locked out of her late husband’s home eight days after his death on July 20, 2026. A video posted by activist Harrison Gwamnishu showed the father‑in‑law padlocking the gate and attempting to seize the property, sparking public outrage.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) intervened, contacting the survivor and confirming threats to her life and intimidation. Working with the Owutu Police Division, the Lagos State Police Command arrested the father‑in‑law, who remains in custody while investigations continue. The mother‑in‑law and other family members subsequently vacated the house, leaving the widow and her two children in possession of the property.
