LaGuardia Airport TSA finds fake IDs hidden next to Xbox
TSA officers at LaGuardia Airport discovered a stash of fraudulent driver’s licenses hidden inside a passenger’s checked luggage. The discovery occurred after an Xbox gaming system triggered a security alarm during the screening process.
Supervisory Transportation Security Officer Christopher Ramos found the fake IDs in a plastic bag placed next to the console. Ramos noted that while the licenses displayed various dates of birth and different class types, they all featured the same photograph.
Following the discovery, TSA management, airport officials, and Port Authority police were notified. The passenger was arrested moments before their scheduled flight departure. TSA LaGuardia Federal Security Director John Essig credited the arrest to the officer’s strict adherence to standard operating procedures and situational awareness.
