Laguna Paiva Mayor disputes with Municipal Council over salaries and works

In Laguna Paiva, Mayor Elbio Cotterli is engaged in a political dispute with the Municipal Council. The tension stems from disagreements regarding the certification of provincial works and the payment of council members' salaries.

Cotterli has requested that council members sign documentation related to provincial works to facilitate the accountability of expenses. Additionally, the municipal executive has reportedly withheld salary transfers for council members for approximately three months. Addressing the situation, Cotterli stated, “They do not work, we do not pay,” signaling a deepening rift between the executive and legislative branches.
