Lahad Datu receives new AED installations and emergency training

The Kota Kinabalu Junior Chamber International has expanded its ‘AED for Life: Community Awareness and Donation Program’ to Lahad Datu. The initiative included the installation and handover of three Automated External Defibrillators (AED) at the Lahad Datu Sports Complex, the Sabah Lahad Datu Basketball Association, and the Lahad Datu Pasoh Complex.

To complement the equipment installation, the organization held two emergency first aid awareness sessions involving over 150 participants from various NGOs and the public. These sessions, led by representatives from St. John Ambulance Malaysia (Lahad Datu District) and Medik-Link (Sabah) Sdn Bhd, focused on teaching cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the correct use of AEDs to manage sudden cardiac arrest.

Program organizers emphasized that while providing accessible life-saving equipment is vital, building community confidence and the ability to take immediate action during medical emergencies is the ultimate goal of the project.
