Lahj agricultural and livestock facilities undergo rehabilitation
Yemen’s Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Salem Abdullah Al-Saqatri, and the Governor of Lahj, Murad Al-Halimi, conducted inspections of several agricultural and livestock infrastructure projects in Lahj Governorate. Accompanied by the FAO Resident Representative, Adam Baow, the officials reviewed the rehabilitation of the National Center for Livestock Research in the Sabr area. This project, funded by the World Bank and implemented by the FAO, includes upgrading administrative buildings, researcher housing, animal pens, and artificial insemination facilities, as well as installing solar energy systems.
The officials also inspected the Sabr Dairy Production Center, which has been equipped by the FAO to produce various dairy products, such as yogurt and butter, utilizing female staff. Additionally, the delegation met to discuss the status of the agricultural, irrigation, and fisheries sectors in the governorate. They reviewed the readiness of locust and pest control warehouses and the rehabilitation of agricultural extension and veterinary centers to improve services provided to local farmers.
